Social problem

High rate of youth poverty

Youth from Fihaonana are not able to pursue education (university studies) after graduating from local high schools, which results in a high rate of youth poverty

Outputs

University studies and career entry support

Fianarana adresses young people in need from educationally disadvantaged families who have graduated from high school in Fihaonana and would like to go to university.

Preparatory year

A good degree starts when education gaps are closed during the one-year preparatory year in Fihaonana.

Career counselling

As part of the preparatory year, the beneficiaries also receive personalised help in choosing a career and university.

Personal development

Qualified coaching encourages participants in the preparatory year to express themselves, their opinion and vision.

Study and living costs

All relevant costs are covered during the course, provided that the degree is completed within the specified period (3 years).

Shared accommodations

The students live in segregated shared apartments supervised by us in the capital Antananarivo.

Tutoring services

Access to suitable tutoring services and a renowned library expands students' knowledge.

Social work

Nomena, a studied social worker, and Manitra, a carer, look after our youngsters with great dedication.

Involvement of parents

Persons with custody are actively involved in the project and have to make their own contribution.

Organic food

The beneficiaries receive rice, vegetables, fruit, fish, meat and eggs directly from our organic farm in Fihaonana.

Data collection

We collect data and carry out our own surveys, which help us in particular with impact analysis.

Job application training

In due course, beneficiaries will learn how to write a good job application and conduct a compelling job interview.

Professional independence

Depending on the field of study, self-employment is meaningful and effective and is individually supported by us.

Effects (Outcomes and Impact)

Lawyer, agricultural engineer or car mechanic instead of being affected by poverty

After just four years of support, the beneficiaries pursue a qualified profession that offers a self-determined life above the international poverty line. Engaged students are also supported for master's and, if applicable, doctoral studies.

About us

Our project leaders - almost as young as the beneficiaries themselves

The studied social worker Nomena Ramarozatovo (24) and the trained businessman Fabio Müller (25) complement each other and manage the project directly from Fihaonana.
